Applicants must meet the membership prerequisites to be successful - including a UK recognised BSc (Hons) or above qualification in Veterinary Physiotherapy, a record of 50hours CPD over 24 months (see website for details), valid professional indemnity insurance and acceptance of the Conditions of Membership and Code of Conduct (see website).

By applying for NAVP Membership you agree that you have met the membership prerequisites including the correct qualification, have read and agree to abide by the Conditions of Membership and the Code of Conduct.
Successful applicants will receive an email with the certificate, including a unique membership number and then be able to enjoy the benefits.
Professional Indemnity Insurance:
a) Members must carry insurance and copies of their insurance certificates must be submitted. Minimum indemnity must be £4,000,000.
b) If you are working for a veterinary practice and are covered by their insurance, please provided the following statement with your application by copying and pasting the following statement - signed and dated. ‘I …………………. am solely working for …(insert vets name)… vets treating their clients and am covered by their insurance policy. I fully understand that I am not covered to treat my own private clients unless I take out my own insurance policy. I understand I must inform NAVP of any changes to my work situation. Signed…………………………………………………… Date………………………………………….’
CPD Record
Relevant CPD totalling 50hours over 24months, including 7hrs of face to face CPD.
You do not have to provide your CPD Certificates with the application, but you could be asked to present CPD evidence/certificates if your application is part of the random audit.
It is your professional responsibility to keep a record of the relevant CPD events that you have attended, supported by certificates from the hosts. CPD Activity Record can be found on the membership page NAVP Membership - National Association of Veterinary Physiotherapists
Category memberships
a) Applicants join the NAVP as Category 2 members and will be listed as such on the website.
i) To gain Category 1 status: After 1 year minimum or 2 years maximum, Category 2 members may apply to step up to Category 1.
ii) To achieve Category 1, members will need to produce a vet reference and 2 written case histories. Three senior NAVP members will review the case histories.
Annual Membership benefits - see website
Use of NAVP Logo as per NAVP Logo policy (see members area on website). Misuse may result in disciplinary procedures and termination of membership.
Membership period
a) The 12month membership fee is due annually by midnight on the 1st March.
b) Failure to renew by the 1st March the following year will result in the termination of the membership and all benefits.
c) Members who take a short period of time out of practice may cancel their insurance and fill in the Return to Practice form (available in the members area of the website or from the membership secretary at membership@navp.co.uk). CPD and membership fees will still apply during time off work.
d) Members who plan to take a year or more out of practice may cancel their renewal of membership on March 1st and re-apply at a later date provided they have continued to attend CPD and can fulfil any extra requirements asked of them to prove their skills are up to date.
Fee/Costs
a) The annual membership fee is £130.00 to be paid at time of renewal or registration. Once your application form has been submitted you will recieve payment instructions from membership@navp.co.uk. If you have any errors in your order, please contact us within a reasonable time period, so that the information can be updated.
b) Fees will be reduced periodically throughout the membership year to reflect reduced membership time period.
c) An admin fee of 50% of the joining fee will be charged for applicants who apply but do not meet the joining criteria. Late fees – for renewals after midnight on the 1st March, a late admin fee of £60 will be charged in addition to the membership fee.
Category membership - Members who do not renew their membership on 1st March but then wish to re-apply at a later date will need to apply as a new member and will be listed as a Category 2 member, irrespective of which Category they previously held.
Cancellation policy a) Professional Membership fees are non-refundable b) NAVP reserves the right to cancel an individual’s membership if the Code of Conduct, Conditions of Membership or Scope of Practice are not being adhered to and in some cases, following the Disciplinary Procedure.
If an application is unsuccessful and the applicant cannot supply sufficient evidence to support the application membership will be revoked and a full refund will be given.
Policies - Copies of the Code of Conduct, Conditions of Membership, Disciplinary Procedures, Privacy Policy, Logo Policy and more can be found on the website in the members area or can be obtained from the Secretary (sec@navp.co.uk). All new members will be sent a copy of each in their welcome pack.

The personal information you have provided will be held and used by NAVP in accordance with the NAVP Data Protection Policy (NAVP Cookie Policy - National Association of Veterinary Physiotherapists). We will use your information to contact you on any matters relating to your membership of NAVP. Your data may be stored outside of the UK. Data processing may be outsourced to another company to process it. If you do not wish for your data to be stored or processed in this way you can apply for membership directly with the secretary. Full disclosure - Please disclose any criminal convictions, court summons, mental or physical illness, removal from other associations or registers that may impact your work and/or professional indemnity cover as a veterinary physiotherapist by emailing chair@navp.co.uk. This will allow us to offer you support.
AGM - Members must attend at least one AGM in three. Part of the work of the association is to help keep high standards of professionalism which make our members instantly recognizable to the veterinarians and owners. Understanding the role of the association and any industry changes which affect your practice is vital.
Placement Providers: Members may only become Placement Providers after 2 years in practice and must have completed the NAVP Accredited Clinical Educators course (or similar). Approved Placement Providers are listed by NAVP and this list made available to all education providers.
Clinical Tutoring: Members may be asked by education providers to help tutor on clinical teaching sessions. They can help tutor after 1 year in practice provided, they will be supervised by a senior veterinary physiotherapist, but also should have completed the NAVP Accredited Clinical Educators course or hold a teaching certificate.
Governing law and jurisdiction - These Terms, their subject matter and their formation are governed by English law. You agree that the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes whatsoever in relation to these terms.
