Announcing multiple single sign-on (Multi-SSO) integrations for Jotform Enterprise

To protect your organization’s data, you need to implement top-notch security standards. But you also want to make it easy for employees and customers to access the information they need. Single sign-on (SSO) integrations streamline the sign-in process while protecting against weak passwords and other security risks.

Many organizations use just one SSO solution. In some cases, however, an organization might need to use more than one identity provider, such as during mergers and acquisitions, when providing partner access, or in transitional periods. That’s where Multi-SSO comes in. With Multi-SSO, users can choose from multiple identity providers, like Google and Microsoft, to log in.

Jotform Enterprise now offers new and improved single sign-on (SSO) integration features for Multi-SSO. Multi-SSO elevates the user experience by making it easier to access resources, while still adhering to strict security standards. Learn how to leverage our new advanced SSO features below to streamline authentication and safeguard your form submission data.

What is Multi-SSO?

Jotform Enterprise recently launched Multi-SSO, a new SSO feature that provides teams with secure, seamless login access using multiple identity providers. Previously, users could not add multiple identity providers to their servers. Multi-SSO empowers organizations to offer more flexibility in login options.

With Multi-SSO, organizations with multiple subsidiaries or partners that use different SSO providers can integrate the system more efficiently without compromising security. Users can easily access their forms through their organization’s dedicated SSO portal. Jotform Enterprise supports SAML 2.0 and integrates with SSO solutions from Microsoft, Google, Okta, Duo, and more.

Secure and seamless authentication with SSO

Before we take a look at how to set up Multi-SSO access in Jotform Enterprise, let’s review what you can do with SSO in general. SSO allows users to log in to multiple applications with a single set of credentials, eliminating the need to remember and enter various passwords for different applications.

SSO also enhances security for your organization, as authentication is managed centrally. This enforces stronger password policies and makes it possible to monitor user access more effectively. SSO also reduces the risk of data breaches from weak passwords. It allows you to set your organization up for success by increasing security, saving time, and reducing password fatigue.

In Jotform Enterprise, you can also use SSO for added security by requiring login credentials to fill out a form. By requiring users to log in to view and submit your form, you can ensure you only receive responses from your intended audiences.

The enhanced SSO login feature also allows form fillers outside of the customer’s organization to create guest accounts to access private or assigned assets. It provides a safe option to share private assets with guest users securely.

Save time and effort with SSO Prefill

SSO Prefill is another way to save your customers and employees from repetitive, frustrating login experiences. You can benefit from faster form-filling, improved data accuracy, and increased conversions. Users save time when form fields are automatically prefilled using existing SSO data and can have peace of mind knowing the information is entered correctly.

The SSO integration for Jotform Enterprise allows you to protect forms with SSO. Requiring SSO login for a form ensures that only authenticated individuals inside the organization can view it. It ensures the person filling out the form is who they say they are, reinforcing data integrity. The employee’s information can also automatically be prefilled into the form, so they don’t have to enter information the organization already has.

Combining SSO Prefill with a Jotform Enterprise form has made the process simple, secure, and fast.

The benefits of SSO

SSO offers a wide range of benefits that empower your organization to improve overall security measures and elevate the user experience. Key benefits of SSO include

  • Improved security: SSO reduces the risk of weak or shared passwords.
  • Increased productivity: Quick and seamless access to various applications, saving time and avoiding repetitive login entries.
  • Enhanced user experience: Eliminate the frustration of remembering multiple passwords and simplify the authentication process.
  • Custom permission settings: Protect the integrity of your data by requiring SSO login to fill out forms and view or edit submissions.

SSO service options

Jotform Enterprise offers three advanced options to enhance your SSO experience and make your login flow as seamless and secure as possible:

  • Multi-SSO: Enables authentication through multiple identity providers simultaneously.
  • Just in time (JIT): This is a method of automating user account creation for your Jotform Enterprise server. If the user is assigned to the configured SSO application and there is no match when the user tries to log in, a new user seat will be automatically created for that user.
  • System for cross-domain identity management (SCIM): You can manage users directly through your identity provider (IdP) application. You can add, remove, delete, and update Jotform Enterprise users without doing this through the Admin Console. SCIM is only supported for the IdP application on Okta and Azure.

How to add multiple SSO instances in Enterprise

With the addition of Multi-SSO, Jotform Enterprise allows you to configure multiple instances of SSO providers. You are able to add multiple instances of the same SSO provider so that users on your Enterprise server can securely and efficiently use your organization’s identity provider to log in.

You are also able to add multiple instances of different SSO providers in Jotform Enterprise. This provides greater flexibility and is beneficial if different teams use distinct authentication systems, ensuring a smooth login experience through your preferred platform.

How to enable Multi-SSO in Jotform Enterprise

Let’s walk through how to add multiple instances of different SSO providers in Jotform Enterprise. The steps are similar for adding multiple instances of the same SSO provider.

Follow the steps below to set up your Multi-SSO login. This scenario uses Okta and Google SSO, but the steps are the same for other providers (though the mapping of the metadata details may differ). Check your Okta account to get the Okta metadata details you’ll need to add.

  1. Go to the Admin Console in your admin account and select Settings.
  2. Go to the SSO Settings and toggle on Single Sign-On.
  3. Select the New SAML SSO Provider.
Clicking on the New SAML SSO Provider Button Under the Single Sign-On Section
  1. Edit and map the following SAML SSO Configuration:
  • Provider Name: Enter the name of the provider (in this case, Okta).
  • Entity ID: Input the Issuer URL from Okta.
  • SSO URL: Paste in the single sign-in URL.
  • Certificate: Add your Certificate from Okta.
  • SLO URL: Paste in the single log-out URL.
  1. Click Test Connection to ensure that your SSO is working properly.
  2. Select Save to complete the configuration. You’ll get a confirmation that the configuration has been saved.
  3. To add Google as the second SSO provider, select New SAML SSO Provider. Follow the steps above to complete your Google authentication.
Edit SAML SSO Configuration Window in Admin Console Settings

Managing SSO configurations

To manage any of your SSO providers, navigate to your SSO settings under Settings in the Admin Console. Select the three-dot menu next to the provider to edit the configuration, test it, or delete it.

Clicking on the three-dots menu in the Single Sign-On Settings

Select SAML Prefill to edit your SAML SSO configurations.
