Project Information:
Unframing Photography is an artistic project developed to provoke a public debate about photography, its presence and its influence on our life.
While photography is constantly praised for its power to communicate and expand knowledge and creativity, very little is said and shared about its intrinsic issues and unethical aspects.
Through this call out Unframing Photography is selecting and grouping 10 professional practitioners of photography based in Folkestone with the aim to discuss and ‘make visible’ those issues of photography through the realisation of a campaign of awareness.
The images created will be hand printed on large free-standing temporary structure and exhibited in key locations in Folkestone as well as @ ]performance space[ gallery in Folkestone.
The public display will be also documented using a 360 degrees camera and uploaded on Google Street View.
Each selected practicioner will be paid £ 300 and expected to participate at two discussion sessions (one individual and one collective) and contribute artistically in photographing a live performance by Manuel Vason.
